Minor Mythology
Minor Mythology is a series of bright, colourful images featuring portraits of encounters that were, in one way or another, willing to share and explore their intimacy via the photographic medium. These people perhaps struggle unemployment, endure drug rehab, got recently divorced, ponder their age or struggle with other mundane and publicly insignificant trouble. However, my aim was never to express this privacy via easily legible and direct visual language. The images hide petite parables, assembled from the shards of their lives or memories and wrapped in the cellophane of an ancient language. Perhaps small rebuses that yearn to rearrange the mundane and overlooked into something we can't live without - the sense of identity and uniqueness. These modest colourful icons do not debate those matters that might raise anguish or empathy. They strive to be a colourful celebration of peoples presence, life and their minor, albeit fundamental mythology.
