Where I’m not From
Moving to the Netherlands transformed photography for me. It stopped being about technical skill or chasing milestones, becoming instead a way of making peace with solitude. Walking through cities where the language, rhythm, and distances were not mine, photography became a quiet companion. It was never about escaping loneliness or mastering a new place, but about walking alongside that unfamiliarity and learning its light, its cadence, and where to pause. The images in this series reflect a heightened attentiveness born out of not belonging a testament to forming a gentle relationship with a foreign landscape until it feels a little more like home. Where I’m Not From names neither a specific place nor a single emotion. It is a quiet visual attempt to find them along the way.
