Code Red
My Code Red fine art photography series responds to the global climate crisis and puts a spotlight on the mass species extinction currently happening on earth. The images reflect humanity’s impact on nature and serve as a call to action to help save our planet’s biodiversity.
Twenty-eight percent of assessed species are threatened with extinction due to climate change, pollution, habitat loss, and poaching. I utilize the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List to determine which animals and plants are considered threatened, endangered, and critically endangered.
My art process illustrates our deteriorating and polluted world through experimental techniques. Humans are an integral part of the natural world and I have photographed numerous fractals, which are self-repeating patterns, that emphasize our interrelationship and interdependence with nature. My hope is that there will be transformative changes through collective action to conserve the earth for present and future generations.
A portion of all print sales from this series will be donated to environmental groups that are making a positive difference to climate change and conservation, particularly to the areas and species I have photographed.
