The Naked Truth
“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act” George Orwell. This project was born out of a desire to elaborate, through photography, something that was not visible, but nonetheless real, in an attempt to make sense of a painful and confusing situation that brought back issues of a past that was never fully understood. The betrayal of trust by the ones we love and believe to have our best interest at heart leaves deep scars that unstitch when exposed to something that remind us of how they originated. Hidden truths and tangled up words used to manipulate, heavy, unnecessary, a spiral of overthinking and the need to return to a place full of dust and ghosts, and let new light in. Walking along the blurred line between what hurts and what protects, sitting with silence and absence in the crepuscular space of unresolved memories, connection helped to re-establish a sense of self and allowed the kind of healing that feeling seen, and listened to, ignites. “I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves
