The Wandering Studio

These images form part of a larger series titled ‘The Wandering Studio’, photographed in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The aim of the body of work was to allow the viewer to connect, without distraction, with the individual being photographed in a traditional, studio style portrait. At each location, a second, wider environmental portrait was also shot. The environmental portrait serves to juxtapose the highly controlled, traditional studio style portrait with the raw and gritty working and living environments that the subjects of the series come from.

I'm a travel and portrait photographer based in Brisbane, Australia.

I have a close connection to Cambodia, having spent a number of years living and working there. I'm drawn to meeting new and interesting people and compelled to learn about them. It is always my aim to capture a sense of pride and beauty in the subjects I photograph, many of whom are often ignored by the typical traveller.

I believe in the positive power of photography in changing mindsets and empowering those often overlooked. I hope that my images will encourage viewers to travel and explore our world, take chances, meet new people and share their stories.
