This series invites us to look again at the human body. By shifting scale, perspective and context, the works on view estrange the familiar, allowing its hidden structures to emerge. What appears ordinary becomes an entry point for inquiry, empathy and critique.

Debra Seal is a photographer who works in digital and film. A prolific photographer in her twenties, Debra diverged from her art to raise her daughter and pursue a career as an art director and branding specialist. She has returned to photography full time and works out of her studio in Petaluma, California.
Debra understands that human brains are pattern seekers, creating expectations based on how we perceive the world, and that photos can say more about what’s in our minds than about the photographed objects themselves. She intends her photos to break our habitual notions, dismantling conventional narratives that prescribe rigid ways of being in the world.
