Carnival On The Outskirts
It documents the celebrations in the towns of Tlaltenco, Zapotitlán and Tezonco, in the extreme southeast of Mexico City, where carnival persists between asphalt streets and urban sprawl. Through masks, dances and rituals, the series portrays the clash between the ancestral and the modern, the festive and the everyday. It is a visual testimony of an identity that survives on the margins, where tradition becomes an act of rebellion and belonging.
