About Dream

About Dream, is a photo series I have started since I found an imaginary landscape shot in a film roll which got developed after quite awhile. I could not recall how it’s been taken. This obscure image evokes my memory of dreams or dreamlike memory in a way. This incident allowed me to explore another possibility of the narration visual images could carry and yet it leaded off an example for me to reconstruct my indistinct memories accessible whilst performing the express function of serving as tokens of remembrance. In addition, About Dream series, confirms my inclination to contemplate the pure art form of colour and shape and to indulge myself in the fascination of light painting.

Suki Lui

Suki Lui previously worked in the film and advertising industry in Hong Kong; this experience allows her to cast a critical eye on the commercial and fashion world, and has made her sensitive to the ways in which symbols are manipulated through the recontextualisation of objects.

Her preoccupation of the reconstruction of the content of mundane objects in relationship of the subjects, most of all – women; by placing the subject matters into uncanny setting or disturbing context together with her particularity sensitivity of light and ephemeral moment capturing, Suki’s works creates obscurity between reality and fiction whilst retains the realism from within. It thus challenges the viewers’ accustomed perceptual everyday experiences.
