Blood in Heaven
This body of work stems from an obsession with girlhood; a dark and sometimes unnerving attachment with remaining youthful and innocent while knowing I am no longer the girl I use to be. Blood in Heaven comes from my exploration of religion and spirituality that has continued to circle around a faith based on rituals. I use a 4x5 view camera to stage scenes that clue the viewer into the relationship between young women and the spiritual world. These photographs are documents of the divine spaces I have discovered while becoming a woman. They speak about the death of innocence and of what comes after. These photographs are a window into this space, and a witness to rituals of young women.
