Haim Berman

Born in socialist Romania, I immigrated with my parents at the age of 12, to Israel, arriving some 8 months before the 6 Days War to the urban periphery of Beer Sheva. I have arrived at photography as a hobby in 2016, after retiring from a career in the field of Quality Management and Organizational Learning, engineering disciplines that basically consist of improving systems and organizations by constantly finding and fixing flaws. I am now focused on finding beauty everywhere, even in imperfection (and maybe especially there!). I don't favor the idea of being categorized in a specific box so I'll say that the fields that hold most of my fascination at the moment are street, documentary, and urban. I seek to be a narrative photographer creating meaningful experiences for the viewer, encompassing a sense of my connection with the subject, and attempting at the same time to capture and convey something about that subject's inner qualities. My first regular course in photography was at the beginning of 2019 and I am inspired by the work of photographers like Alex Levac, Oded Wagenstein, Joel Meyerowitz, and classics of street and documentary.
