Where are we now?

The images of the series and the photo book "Where are we now?" were taken during several travels in the Balkans (Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro). I asked myself how it would be over there after the fall of the iron curtain and the introduction of the free market economy. Curious about a region so close but also unknown, a region in transition. It's a long-term project and I have no idea when it will end. But it was also a personal question, namely where I stood in my personal life.

There is a documentary aspect in my images, but my work is also the result of what a place does with me. Mostly I work in the open and public space. For more than 10 years I travel and photograph in the Balkans, not yet too polished and over-organized, a region in transition, on the move. Like I have to be on the move
