Manchester Girls

A collaboration between photographer, Dean Davies and stylist, Vicky Olschak, Manchester Girls is part reality, part fiction – a homage to the strong women that informed their adolescence. The series and its publication draw upon some of the less documented female perspectives within Manchester’s rich heritage, embodying the youthful mischief and everyday mundanity of life in the city's suburban sprawl.

Dean Davies is a fashion image-maker from Wirral, North West England.

In a practice seeking to reposition fashion’s exclusivity, non-models and communities feature as active participants in Davies’ image making, which encompasses; creative direction, photography, film-making, casting and styling. His upbringing, and the people he grew up around have had a noticeable influence upon his image-making, and, in homage to his youth, the majority of his work has been captured in North West England, featuring family, friends and locals to the region.
