Marija Budimirovic Pontet is a French-Serbian fine-art, street and documentary photographer based in Paris. She photographs what time erases. Her work explores memory, belonging and the invisible threads that connect people to places, histories and one another. Through intimate moments, quiet gestures and everyday landscapes, she creates images that move beyond documentation, inviting viewers to reflect on what remains after time, distance and change. Working across both black-and-white and colour, Marija combines documentary observation with a poetic visual language. Rather than focusing on events themselves, she is drawn to their emotional echoes—the fragile moments where identity, resilience and human connection quietly reveal themselves. Her ongoing projects, including Surrounded Alone, Les Rivages, What Is Passed On, Latent Image and her work on lymphedema, form chapters of a larger exploration of memory and what endures. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally and recognized through publications, exhibitions and award nominations, including PHmuseum, the Refocus Awards and Fondation Cognacq-Jay. She believes that as long as a person, a place or a moment lives in someone's memory, it continues to exist.
