Bits and Pieces
A leap from Apgujeong street to the operating table in 16F. A human skull lies bare of skin as a doctor severs the cheekbone. ‘Bits and Pieces’ is a visceral-photographic odyssey through Seoul. The mega-city, inhabited by the physically most-enhanced population in the world, is discovered as a body itself. The objects the photographer encounters on his dérive through the urban space and high-rise operation rooms seem to embrace their own agency; fibre cables, cars and everyday paraphernalia are equally alive as humans in the midst of a plastic surgery procedure. Fragmented bodies and the infrastructure become intertwined in a gloomy picture of the Korean boomtown.
