"Beijing" in Gdynia. Pre-war district of poverty, where other rules still apply
There are no plumbing, asphalt roads or sidewalks, in the sea of small houses you can also see burned buildings and complete ruins - located on a hill, a dozen hectares "Pekin" is a colorful part of Gdynia. It was created in the 1930s, recently it became loud again.
It is not known, however, how long "Pekin" will keep its current appearance. The area does not belong to the city, it is managed by private owners. And the hired managers hired by them do not hide in conversations with journalists that they are doing everything to let many residents move out of the housing estate. One of the forms of such "persuasion" are large rent increases. Managers also argue that in "Pekin" there are people who live "in the wild", they do not pay any fees and avoid eviction, because there is no substitute accommodation for them. In turn, the tenants accuse the administrators of illegally destroying their homes.
